Cooperate or Prepare for Global Collapse: An Urgent Call to the UN and Climate Action Led by Mayday.live and the Gaia Team (GlobalSolidarity.live)
Dear UN Secretary-General António Guterres,
I write to you with the utmost urgency and determination to address what I consider the greatest existential challenge in human history: the accelerated climate crisis. For decades, the United Nations has proclaimed noble goals, but the reality is that its inaction and inaccurate projections have significantly contributed to the misperception of climate risk.
An Uncomfortable Balance: Success or Failure of the UN?
Since its founding in 1945, the United Nations has witnessed:
- Perpetual conflicts: In 75 years, the world has never known complete peace. Wars have continued unabated, and the UN has failed to prevent aggressions such as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which currently presides over the Security Council.
- Persistent hunger: Over 900 million people have died of hunger during this period, while millions more live in extreme poverty.
- Unmet human rights: Fundamental rights such as health, education, access to potable water, and a healthy environment remain out of reach for a significant portion of the global population.
- Mismanaged climate crisis: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), despite employing over 1,000 scientists, has issued projections that underestimated the speed and magnitude of global warming.
Critical Errors of the IPCC and Their Consequences
The IPCC predicted:
- A sea-level rise of no more than 1 meter by 2100.
- That the North Pole would not completely melt before 2030.
- That the 1.5°C threshold would be reached between 2035 and 2050.
These estimates, now proven wrong, created a false sense of security that led to global inaction. However, the reality is far more alarming:
- July 2023: The strong El Niño phenomenon, unprecedented heat waves, and more intense hurricanes marked the onset of uncontrolled acceleration of the climate anomaly, breaking the 1.5°C threshold.
- December 2023: The 2°C threshold was surpassed. Without immediate action, positive feedback loops between coupled ecosystems will become irreversible by July 2025.
Proposal to Correct Course
From Mayday.live, we have identified the necessary steps to address this crisis:
- Restructure IPCC leadership: Appoint Dr. James Hansen, Professors Johan Rockström and Lowell Sott, and Dr. William Ripple to lead an immediate review of all climate data.
- Activate Project SCOPEX: Reduce global temperatures by 1.5°C through solar geoengineering technologies before July 2025.
- Implement a dynamic holographic climate map: Utilize artificial intelligence and quantum computing to monitor tipping points in real-time.
- Planetary-scale reforestation: Plant 30 billion trees annually until reaching one trillion, through initiatives like the Forest Card.
A Call for Leadership and Cooperation
Mr. Guterres, the UN must stop waiting for governments to act. Instead, it must lead from the front, leveraging its vast resources and collaborating with the private sector. From Mayday.live, we have already taken the first step with the Master Plan for Planetary Climate Emergency, but we need your support to coordinate efforts and mobilize the international community.
Time is running out. Humanity is facing a point of no return, and inaction will only accelerate our downfall. This is a call for collective action. Let us work together, set aside selfishness, and act with the purpose of ensuring the survival of our home and all the life forms that depend on it.
You have the power to make a difference, but also the responsibility not to fail at this critical moment. If you choose not to act, you will become yet another accomplice to the inaction that will doom humanity to inevitable collapse.
Conclusion: There Is No Plan B
The only option is to act now. Let us talk, coordinate efforts, and seize this last chance to save the planet. History will not judge us by what we said, but by what we diA Better World, Now Possible!
